In the summer of 2016, after living in Philadelphia for a little over a year, I thought maybe I was running in the wrong direction. I was still adjusting to my new life in a new city, a long way away from my family, friends, and the general idea of home and what it used to be. Did I make a mistake? Should I not be here? It’s easy to feel out of place, but one thing is for certain: there's no time for backpedaling. You gotta keep running forward.
That’s when I met Joe and Miguel, two incredibly talented musicians and, as I soon discovered, two even better friends. Together, we brought this little music project called Hootsie to life. Thanks to these guys and to this music we’ve created (and continue to create) together, I’ve realized that home has been here all along.
Home is wherever you want it to be. It’s with your family, or those late nights with your friends. It lives in a warm memory, a long-awaited embrace with a loved one, that perfect spot on your couch, or in a book on the beach. “Home is where I want to be,” and right now, the only place I want to be is right here, because today, home is in this music.
“Run” is the embodiment of this sense of home and comradery that the three of us share. We’re very proud of this EP, as each song represent us well in some way. It is a perfect blend of our past, present, and future. We sincerely thank you for your love and support, and we hope that maybe you’ll find something you love in here.
Keep running forward, because you might just end up home.
