First of May 03:17
When will it be our time to go When will it be our time to go The ones who came before us Never seemed to know When will it be our time to go Try to remember Where is my true love to be Where is my true love to be She's in the rippled ocean She's in a summer breeze Where is my true love to be Try to remember

Yellow Sky 05:21
Well I went for a run around sunset The green leaves were melting with the yellow sky I could feel the breath fill the space within my lungs In that moment I felt free but I don't know why Thought I saw you on the trail today It wasn't you but I waved anyway The stranger turned her head and she looked confused There are worse mistakes to make But know I was thinking of you All this time We think about the trail we leave behind As for me I'll always remember The way you looked beneath the yellow sky Like blessings form a mourning dove The feeling comes back to you but you don't know why The sunbeams on the water made me think of you And the way you looked beneath the yellow sky

High Tide 04:52
I see a light that's out int he distance it's not as bright as it used to be days are getting longer but it's so damn hard to see I wanna hear the sound of the water Sink my feet into the stream the silent mile is never quite as daunting as it seems What have you got to lose You can be afraid or put on your dancing shoes But we ain't got nothing to hide Our lives are only rearranging Keep your head above the rising tide I see that light that's out in the distance I used to answer to its call If you ain't got hope in something Baby you ain't got nothing at all What have you got to lose You can be afraid or put on your dancing shoes But we ain't got nothing to hide Our lives are only rearranging Keep your head above the rising tide

So you're moving on Got to get out of this town 'Cause nothing's keeping you around All your friends have gone And you know the time is now To chase the air down south How do you know in the moment? Never a doubt til you're forced to make a move. Places will go If you let them And people will change You can't stop them But you gotta know It's nothing to do with you I still dream about Holidays in your old house That's where I want to be So so long, goodbye monday All these visions in my mind I hope they never leave How could I know in the moment? That's all I'd have to remember All the good old days Places will go If you let them And people will change You can't stop them But you gotta know It's nothing to do with you Good days don't live on Time just sends you round and round Til you're down and out

"This place is is good hands" That's what you said to me When you ran me through your plans Sometimes you just know When you've outstayed your welcome And it's time for you to go But you You don't seem to worry You forge ahead and leave it all behind Because in th end What's the difference? Running through the wet grass Hiding on a swing set Nothing ever lasts for ever But I'll always remember Catching satellites Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing last forever in this life Does it always rain this hard in Carolina? Like a million tiny bullets hit the roof You said it feels just like witness protection "Eating noodles with ketchup like a shnook" But I I don't see it that way It's funny playing house While we slowly go insane And at night What's the difference? Running through the wet grass Hiding on a swing set Nothing ever lasts for ever But I'll always remember Catching satellites Nothing ever lasts forever Nothing last forever in this life

Better Off 04:48
It was on a Thursday evening The spirit in her died Her heart just couldn’t take it anymore She can still hear the wheezing Feel his fever running high And now she wonders what it all was for She takes a drag of a cigarette On the corner of Hector and Jones The white noise of the highway’s fading out A memory dismantled Of a past she cannot handle There’s nothing she can do about that now The town they used to wander feels haunted now She tries to find the beauty in decay But it’s better off that way There’s no more romantic time to fall in love With something than the moment before it’s gone She read that somewhere in a book Her love was taken by a crook She can’t see the sense in moving on All that’s left are fragile little memories It’s easy to forget the good old days Maybe it's better off that way And she may never know what she’s missing The little moments that make up a life A clinking of a glass A day you thought would always last The peace you find in a perfect summer night All that's left are fragile little memories It's easy to forget the good old days Til then we bide our time Take a number stand in line Til there’s nothing left that we can say Maybe it’s better off that way

Why do we go through the pain to write a song? Where the verses somehow have to start With running loop and a lone guitar End the verse before a quiet part Maybe your song is all about regret You lament a life you haven’t finished yet That your childhood days were so much better Than the prison you’re living in or whatever And you never know what the heck to say When you hit record and then press play Now the drums come in, the bass is sounding good Things begin to feel just like they should Then you need to add the singing part But it’s hard for you to speak straight from the heart About the changes in your life today And how everything you know is going away Now your moments here with all eyes on you And it’s time to take the stage And you wish like hell that you had something better to say The time has come, we’ve finally reached the end There’s still a hundred million things you’ve left unsaid And you try and try to convince yourself that the time is worth the work adding one more chorus never hurts About how you wish you could see your friends again Til you get the spins and it’s 4am Only then will you finally understand How you let it all get away If there’s one thing that is clear to me No song can tell your history Still I’ll try like hell to find something better to say

about

'Goodbye Monday' was recorded via email from March 2020 - July 2020. With Hootsie now a duo, we were forced to think a little outside of the box and approach our songs a little differently. Using nothing but our very limited computers, guitars, and an old Casio keyboard, we set out to make the best set of music we possibly could. The result is something a little different while also remaining true to the music we have always enjoyed playing. This album came together very DIY, and perhaps it shows... but that's okay. Either way, we couldn't be prouder.

Making this album has kept us sane, and we hope it brings you some sort of joy during these troubling times. No matter what happens, we're always going to keep trying like hell to find something better to say.

Thank you for listening, and thank you for your support.

Love,
Miguel and Jeff
